The Institute for Supply Management’s Manufacturing Purchasing Managers’ Index rose to 61.1 in September, up 1.2 points from 59.9 percent in August. The New Orders Index has been above 50 for 16 consecutive months, above 60 for 14 consecutive months, and above 65 for nine of the last 14 months.
