Fed funds futures traders are looking beyond the U.S. central bank’s March meeting and now see some likelihood that policy makers could deliver their first back-to-back, half percentage point rate hikes in almost 30 years by their May gathering. Last week’s consumer-price report, which showed annual headline inflation soaring to a 40-year high of 7.5% in January, is behind the current thinking.
