Stocks opened mostly lower Monday, with major indexes on track to close out January with hefty losses as investors prepare for an expected series of rate increases from the Federal Reserve. The Dow Jones Industrial Average DJIA, -0.37% fell 172 points, or 0.5%, to 34,554, while the S&P 500 SPX, -0.02% was off 0.2% at 4,422.
