U.S. stocks opened higher Wednesday, finding support despite data showing consumer prices rose 0.5% in December to push the increase in the cost of living last year to a nearly 40-year high of 7%. The Dow Jones Industrial Average DJIA, +0.25% rose 197 points, or 0.4%, to 36,449, while the S&P 500 SPX, +0.43% was up 0.6% at 4,742.04.
