Stocks opened lower Monday, with tech shares continuing to feel pressure as investors pencil in more aggressive expectations for tightening of monetary policy by the Federal Reserve in 2022. The Dow Jones Industrial Average DJIA, -0.63% was down around 140 points, or 0.4%, at 36,091, while the S&P 500 SPX, -1.09% fell 0.8% to 4,638.
