Stocks opened slightly lower Monday as investors weighed the spread of the omicron variant of the coronavirus that causes COVID-19 and awaited the outcome of a Federal Reserve policy meeting later this week. The Dow Jones Industrial Average DJIA, -0.24% was down 40 points, or 0.1%, at 35,932, while the S&P 500 SPX, -0.14% was off 0.1% at 4,706 after ending Friday at a record.
