U.S. stocks closed out the month and quarter on a sour note Thursday as investors shed equities and losses accelerated within the final hour of trading, continuing a trend of weakness on Wall Street that has played out over the past several weeks. The declines for stocks came even as Congress passed a bill extending government funding through Dec. 3, sending the legislation to President Joe Biden’s desk hours before current funding expires and completing one of several pressing measures before lawmakers.
