The past two banking weeks have been relatively quiet ones within the walls of the Federal Reserve. Consequently, not much has really changed on the Fed’s balance sheet. Commercial banks continue to hold near-record amounts of excess reserves so that there still is a lot of pressure for short-term interest rates to go negative.
