Stocks opened higher Monday, with the Dow Jones Industrial Average and the S&P 500 attempting to snap five-day losing streaks after both indexes saw their biggest weekly drops since June. The Dow Jones Industrial Average DJIA, +0.55% was up 208 points, or 0.6%, at 34,815, while the S&P 500 SPX, +0.36% gained 27 points, or 0.6%, to 4,485.
