Although the S&P 500 SPX, +0.61% and Nasdaq Composite COMP, +0.92% were rising toward fresh records in midday trading Monday, the stock market is technically declining as the majority of stocks are trading lower. The number of declining stocks is outnumbering advancers 1,610 to 1,418 on the NYSE and 2,037 to 1,752 on the Nasdaq exchange.
