U.S. stocks on Tuesday afternoon were setting a brisk pace lower on the session, led by losses in the technology sector. In fact, the tech-heavy Nasdaq Composite COMP, -1.43% , down 1.4%, at last check, was headed for the worst daily decline since May 12, when it tumbled 2.7%; and the Dow Jones Industrial Average DJIA, -1.27% and the S&P 500 index SPX, -1.24% , fresh off record highs on Monday, were each down by more than 1%, both on track for their worst day since July 19.
