4.10pm: US stocks finish strongly as investors sigh with relief at a slew of positive earnings Wall Street ended the day flush in the green as strong earnings from the likes of Under Armour and Simon Property Group beat analyst expectations. The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 0.8% to finish at 35,116 for a 278-point gain on the day.
