Facebook’s FB, +0.70% WhatsApp was fined €225 million ($267 million) by Ireland’s Data Protection Commission for breaking data protection rules. According to the Irish news service RTE, that’s the largest fine the DPC ever imposed, and the second largest penalty levied under European Union data laws.
