U.S. stock benchmarks opened modestly higher Tuesday morning, as Wall Street attempted to bounce back after the previous day’s slump led by technology companies. The Dow Jones Industrial Average DJIA, +0.85% rose 164 points, or 0.5%, to around 34,148, the S&P 500 index SPX, +0.95% added 21 points, or 0.5%, at 4,321, while the technology-laden Nasdaq Composite Index COMP, +1.09% advanced 86 points, or 0.6%, to 14,340.
