4.10pm: US stocks close up as the Dow and S&P 500 hit record highs US benchmarks finished the day higher as investors dismissed economic data indicating slower-than-expected growth. The Dow Jones Industrial Average climbed 154 points to 35,085, while the S&P 500 gained 19 at 4,419.
