Amazon Likely To Make Its Own Chips for Kindle, Alexa

Apr.07 — Dave Brown, vice president of Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2) at Amazon.com Inc, discusses the company’s focus on making its own processors, following a larger trend by big technology companies like Apple Inc, Alphabet Inc.’s Google and Microsoft Corp. He says their AWS chips will be used in the machine learning space as well as Kindle and Alexa products. Brown also doesn’t rule out the possibility of expanding the business and selling chips to other companies.
